Description
Description
A 1983 documentary that explores the lives and loves of a group of six transgender women living in Madrid in the years following Spain's transition to democracy. But more than that, it's a loving portrait of a culture finally emerging from the shadows after being hidden for far too long.
Description
Passionate, raw and truthful documentary in which six transsexuals tell in first person what their lives are like in Spain in the eighties. There are six real characters: Lorenzo, Rene, Jose Antonio, Paco, Juan and Jose, and how and why they became Lorena, Renee, Nacha, Eva Tamara and Jossete, respectively. Loren, the oldest, was locked up in Carabanchel. She tells how bad she had it during military service through a funny anecdote. Renee Amor is a hairdresser and her family still doesn't know about her life as a woman. Nacha is dedicated to the world of prostitution. Eva is an artist: she performs full striptease and Lina Morgan playbacks. Tamara is a gypsy and was mistreated by her family due to her condition, although she is happy now. She also dedicates herself to the world of entertainment, dancing like Lola Flores and Isabel Pantoja. And finally, Josette, also an artist, and perhaps the most peculiar case since, in addition to having a sister in the same situation as her, Eva Welch, she got married even knowing her gender identity and sexual orientation.
